Montana Fishing and Music Camp

The Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music Program is excited to host our third annual Summer Camp for kids and teens – ages 12 to 19 – to be held on the campus of East Tennessee State University July 6-10, 2026. The five-day camp offers young musicians a glimpse into university life and a chance to experience the high-quality musical instruction that ETSU is known for. At the camp, you'll be able to take instrumental and vocal lessons from industry leaders, receive band coaching, explore a professional recording laboratory, learn about bluegrass music history, and more. Special events throughout the week will include square dances, instructor and student concerts, jams, band coaching sessions, and campus tours.

Junior Appalachian Musicians, Inc. (JAM) is proud to announce the second year of JAM’s Traditional Music Education Summit. This dynamic conference is designed for teaching artists in JAM affiliated programs. Lodging, meals and attendance for this 4 day event is covered for only $50.00/participant this year, held at Emory & Henry University in the heart of Southwest Virginia (near Abingdon, Marion, Bristol, VA). The goals of this professional development gathering include panel sessions and workshops led by master instructors and music education professionals, which offer skill development, higher level learning, and a pathway for connections between musicians and programs in the mountainous 7-state region of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Georgia!

Attendance at the 2025 Summit will not qualify participants for JAM’s Teacher Certification Program. The JAM Teacher Certification Program is currently housed online after its live development at the first ever 2024 Summit. Noted and influential International Bluegrass Music Association award winning artists Tim Stafford and Thomm Jutz perform a concert in the historic Jones House.

Tim Stafford is a prolific songwriter, with over 300 songs recorded. He was named IBMA's Songwriter of the Year in 2014, 2017 and 2023. In addition to performing with bluegrass powerhouse Blue Highway, he is a sought-after studio musician, having recorded with over 75 artists including Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, and many others.

Raised in the Black Forest of Germany, Thomm Jutz has become an American roots music treasure. He sings of mill workers, Civil War characters, folk heroes, struggle, heartbreak, and triumph. In a time of division, he seeks and finds connection. He has earned four nominations and a 2021 win for the IBMA Songwriter of the Year award
